Warsaw, Indiana

June 1–2, 2022

I stopped in Warsaw to visit my grad school friend Aaron Winey, who graduated with me last fall. He enrolled and graduated entirely during the remote residencies of COVID, so I was the first person from VCFA that he had ever met outside of Zoom. (I felt weirdly honored about that.) I had a grand time with him and his charming family, having dinner and a little campfire the night I arrived, and then meeting him for lunch at Cerulean near his Blue Note Design studio the next day. He invited me to join him at the college where he teaches to glaze the last of the clay tablets he started making during grad school. What a special treat! I added many layers, and Aaron just sent me a post-firing photo—it came out looking pretty darn great! He and his wife are planning to visit Vermont in a few weeks, and he’s going to bring the tablet over to me.

Before I left town, the dogs and I strolled around the little downtown area by the canal, and I popped into a liquor store to get some local Indiana beer. Check out those sweet graphics on the one I got from Three Floyds!

About Me

I’m a graphic designer, musician, and editor whose job went remote in March 2020. In mid-2021, I sold my house, bought a camper, and decided to hit the road with my two dogs. My homebase is Vermont, and I’ll return eventually, but for now I’m going mobile.
About My Camper

For the first few months of my trip, I was driving Pierogi, a 2014 Toyota Tacoma, and pulling Donna, a 2021 Sun-Lite Classic 16BH camper. Partway through the trip, though, I realized I love this life and wanted to up my game, so I traded in my sweet little setup for a 2022 Thor Sequence camper van, Vincent Van Go(gh). Less in the way of vintage charm, but he rides sooooo fine.
