Putnam Valley, New York

June 12–13, 2022

My last stop before returning to Vermont was my friends Owen and Maria in bucolic Putnam Valley, New York. They recently departed the city and bought a gorgeous little house on a big chunk of land. The house was built in 1820 and had been a one-room schoolhouse in its earlier days. I wish I’d gotten a photo of the house itself, because it’s a beaut!

My boys had a great time romping with their sweet girl, Bella, and the glorious afternoon light in the Hudson Valley made all the dog photos look extra fetching. (I know, I know.) We humans had drinks, dinner, and a nice little fire in their backyard, and the next morning I was able to work from Maria’s lovely study for the first half of the day. At lunchtime I took a break from work and hit the road for the last leg of this 7.5-month trip—back to Vermont!

About Me

I’m a graphic designer, musician, and editor whose job went remote in March 2020. In mid-2021, I sold my house, bought a camper, and decided to hit the road with my two dogs. My homebase is Vermont, and I’ll return eventually, but for now I’m going mobile.
About My Camper

For the first few months of my trip, I was driving Pierogi, a 2014 Toyota Tacoma, and pulling Donna, a 2021 Sun-Lite Classic 16BH camper. Partway through the trip, though, I realized I love this life and wanted to up my game, so I traded in my sweet little setup for a 2022 Thor Sequence camper van, Vincent Van Go(gh). Less in the way of vintage charm, but he rides sooooo fine.
