Kansas (during the short time I was in it) was about what I’d expected: largely flat, conservative, and quiet. I stayed at Cheney State Park right next to a lake, and I saw a cute armadillo and was surrounded by all kinds of interesting birds. When I stopped for gas in the tiny town of Wilson, I happened upon the World’s Largest Czech Egg. (But is there any competition?) Before I headed south to Oklahoma City, I stopped for an oil change in Wichita and got to see “Personnages Oiseaux,” Joan Miró’s massive mosaic on the campus of Wichita State University. Kansas has a little excitement to offer, after all!
