Jonesboro, Arkansas

May 22–23, 2022

My lovely grad school friend Leslie Parker lives in Jonesboro with her husband, and I got to stay with them for a night and see a bit of the town, including the campus where Leslie teaches. We got dinner at an Irish pub (the only thing open past 9 pm on a Sunday), and while people-watching I marveled at two of the most majestic mullets I’ve ever seen. Seriously, they were breathtaking. Leslie and I took the dogs on a walk at Craighead Park the next day, where we saw a large family of geese, including some fuzzy goslings. We ate lunch at the dog-friendly outdoor extravaganza that is Porch Thirty, then I got a scrumptious blackberry latte from Urban Organics. Arkansas remains cooler than I had ever expected!

About Me

I’m a graphic designer, musician, and editor whose job went remote in March 2020. In mid-2021, I sold my house, bought a camper, and decided to hit the road with my two dogs. My homebase is Vermont, and I’ll return eventually, but for now I’m going mobile.
About My Camper

For the first few months of my trip, I was driving Pierogi, a 2014 Toyota Tacoma, and pulling Donna, a 2021 Sun-Lite Classic 16BH camper. Partway through the trip, though, I realized I love this life and wanted to up my game, so I traded in my sweet little setup for a 2022 Thor Sequence camper van, Vincent Van Go(gh). Less in the way of vintage charm, but he rides sooooo fine.
